About C-POW

Working to protect our community, town and natural environment.

Welcome to our website.  C-POW was formed to protect the community of Old Woodstock, part of the historic town of Woodstock in Oxfordshire.  We are a community of a little over 250 dwellings.  Old Woodstock stands on the edge of beautiful fields which overlook the scenic Glyme valley.  These fields host a variety of wild flowers, animals and birds.  In the middle of the fields is the old footpath to Wootton, particularly picturesque in the summer when the hollyhocks are alive with bees and butterflies.  The open space is central to our community; used regularly by residents, dog walkers and tourists. It brings the community together. But these fields are under threat:  there are plans to build 180 houses on them. If the development goes ahead it will destroy our community and our natural
environment.  C-POW aims to stop this development.

How we evolved. What we stand for.

How we evolved.

Friends of Old Woodstock (FoOW) held a meeting of residents on 27th March 2019 to discuss the proposed development. Seventy two households attended and a strong feeling of opposition was expressed. C-POW was formed by those members of the Old Woodstock community who wanted to stop the development.

What we stand for.

FoOW and C-POW oppose the development but each takes a different stance. FoOW work with the developers in the hope of a good outcome. C-POW work to stop it. Our first action was to canvas our residents.  80% of respondents expressed their clear opposition to the proposed development. We represent the majority and stand to protect our community, town and natural environment.
